I can’t believe it’s day 10 already! I’m having so much fun doing these on a daily basis. Today is all about my daily routine.
During the week, my alarm goes off at 6:37 (remember my clock is always 10 minutes fast). Now when I say my alarm it’s actually Lite 105 radio station waking me up. I know this isn’t a great tool to try and wake me up but I’ve been doing this since the tenth grade. About 10 minutes later my phone alarm will start to get me up as well. I use this app that is called Sleep Cycle, a-mazing, and it actually will wake you up when your body is in the awake mode. I am usually out of bed no later than 7:20am. (I literally have my morning routine down to a science).
Once I’m up, I check my emails and all of my social media outlets and then get out of bed, I shower and get ready. While I’m in the shower, I try to think of what I want to wear. I also make sure my lunch is packed the night before. I have to be out of the house no later than 8:08. If I am, I’m definitely catching the morning traffic and will be late to work.
From 8:08-8:25 I’m enjoying my music on my ride to work. I usually listen to iHeart radio so there are no commercials and I can get ‘pumped’ for the day.
Once I pull into my parking at work, I usually become agitated because people don’t know how to park but I count to 10 and try and not let this get to me. From the minute I walk into my building, my day begins and doesn’t end until 6 hours later. I’m literally ‘on-stage’ from the second I show up until the kids leave.
Once 8:45 rolls around my kids enter my classroom and I start to hear my name being called a million and one times, kind of like the “mom, mom, mom” syndrome, but instead it’s “Ms.Cal, Ms.Cal, Ms.Cal”. Throughout the day I will have taught 2 Math classes and 2 Social Studies classes with one 30 minute block of me being able to either return phone calls, check emails or even run to the bathroom. At 2:45 my lovely cherubs leave for the day.
My day doesn’t end there. I usually tutor for an hour (one day is also a grad class and throw in some meetings too), pack my bag with work that needs to be correcting and head home. Once I’m home I work out, cook dinner and watch a little bit of TV before I start to work again. At night I will write a blog post or two, catch up on reading my favorite blogs, and correct some papers. A teacher’s day never ends.
I usually go to bed by 11:00. I set my sleep timer for 60 minutes, turn on Friends to watch some reruns and head off to dream land so I can wake up the next day and do it all over again.
I literally live for the weekends.
