Favorite lyric~Day 2

3 Oct

Day 2′s blog challenge wants us to talk about a favorite song or lyric and say how it inspires or describes me.

There will always be songs or lyrics that mean something to me but lately I really and truly can relate to Katy Perry’s new song “Roar” and Sara Bareilles’ new song “Brave”. Both of these women’s songs hit home for me.

“Roar”~Katy Perry

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar

For many years I would just sit back and let people get me down, have their opinions or thoughts of me affect me and define me. Over the course of, I’d say 3-4 years, I’ve learned to not let any of that effect me. Trust me I have my days where I will literally break down because these things will make me doubt myself, but I have decided no more. These lines inspire me (or the whole song really) to remind myself that no more. No more people pushing me around. No more of others thoughts and opinions defining me and no more doubting myself.

“Brave”~Sara Bareilles

Everybody’s been there,
Everybody’s been stared down by the enemy
Fallen for the fear
And done some disappearing,
Bow down to the mighty
Don’t run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is

I can’t even begin to explain how this song touches my heart. One day my sister, my niece Chloe and I were riding in the car and my sister had this song on. She turned to me and said watch and listen to Chloe. She literally started to sing this song and it was with feeling. She is only 3!! It brought such a smile to my face because whether or not she knows it, she is being a brave little one every single day. Literally has no fear. We have to be that way. No more keeping things in. Speak your mind (obviously respectfully in certain situations) but stand up for yourself. If you don’t, who will. Every single time I hear this song it reminds to be me and no one else.

And last but not least this song will forever be a favorite of mine~

Unwritten” Natasha Bedingfield

Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Yes I will admit, I love to open my sunroof on a beautiful sunny day and blast this song, all LC and all, and believe that my today is where my book begins.

What are some of your favorite lyrics and what do they mean for you??

Happy listening!

5 Reasons Why I Blog~Day 1

3 Oct

Day 1 in the October Daily Challenge is to tell at least 5 reasons why I blog. At first I thought to myself, “Do I even have 5 reasons?” But once I got writing, they came alot easier than I thought.

i_love_blogging1

Here are my 5 Reasons:

1. I love to write. My whole life has been journals, creating children’s books and just simply getting thoughts or ideas onto paper. I’m that girl who will write a letter to a boyfriend about how she feels about him just because. I’m that girl who will keep a journal to keep sane (plus Oprah always talked about how it was good to do this. haha) and I love creating vision boards. By blogging, it has allowed me to get all of my creativity that I used to keep for just my eyes, to share with the rest of the world (most things ;) ).

2. Creativity. Blogging gives me an opportunity to be as creative as I want to be. Especially with challenges it allows me to think outside the box and show the world my ideas and inspirations.

3. Peace of mind. If and when you’re a writer, it is your outlet. Everytime I write something, whether it be a deep thought, a funny story about something that I saw or a fashion/beauty post, it always gives me a peace of mind.

4. Experiences. I cannot even begin to explain the experiences and opportunities I have had since I started my blog. I truly believe everything happens for a reason. And 2 1/2 years ago it all changed for me and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

5. Glamour. In 2011, I was chosen by Glamour Magazine to be Rhode Island’s very own Glambassador. And one of the things the would have liked for us to have had, was a blog. Back then I always thought about having a blog but never followed through with it. Once I was chosen, it kind of gave me that kick in the butt to get it started and I couldn’t be more grateful. Having to start this blog to review beauty products and post my challenges, created a whole new life for me. It’s so crazy to see how my blog has literally evolved and became what it is today. My dream is for all of this to turn into a book someday (yes, very Carrie Bradshaw) but I truly believe with the help of publishers, I can make this dream come true some day.

October Blog Challenge

3 Oct

Many of you know I love to write and blogging has become one way for me to get thoughts, visions and sometimes struggles onto paper. With blog challenges, I have found they allow me think outside the box when it comes to topics (and it keeps me going).

This month I’ve decided to try it again. I did really well back in the spring and blogged every single day. In September I tried to join a challenge, and honestly the month literally slipped through my fingers. So this month, I am going to stick with it. Since we’re in the third day I have need to catch up, but I’m ready for the challenge.

If you’ve always thought of starting a blog and didn’t know exactly where to begin or what exactly you wanted your theme to be like, a challenge is a good way to get traffic to your blog and posts out there.

If you’d like to be part of this challenge, go to Secret Obsession and join with me!!!

Happy blogging!
