Weekend Favorites

10 Dec

With only 2 more weekends to go until Christmas is here, my free weekends have come to an end until after the new year. During this time we may feel stressed and overwhelmed by all of the parties we need to attend and spending money on all of the people in our lives. However, we must never forget the reason why we do it~ family and friend bonding (along with cookies and christmas music).

Rather than my usual Friday Favorites, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite things from this past weekend.

Favorite Event: Jingle Belle Brunch

This past weekend I was able to be surrounded by work family. These are the people I spend the most time with in my life and I appreciate everything each of these ladies do for me and that we do for each other. In the past 5 years, we have grown very close and started traditions outside of school that we now look forward to. In the fall we gather around a fire pit and laugh and tell stories; this past Sunday I hosted a brunch for these lovely ladies along with an ornament swap. Instead of a fire pit, we sat by a fireplace with mimosas in hand. It was a ton of fun!!!

Favorite Christmas Song: This past Saturday while I was running all of my errands, I found myself totally jamming out to good ol’ Brit’s christmas song that came on the radio~ “My Only Wish This Year”. Thankfully it was dark out and no one could tell! Haha

Favorite Home decor: So this past weekend I added a new piece to my holiday decorations. I seriously cannot get enough of white lights. I know I’ve said it before, but there’s just something about them.

Friday Favorites

29 Nov

It’s that time of year, where we get together with old friends, meet some new friends and spend time with our families. I also love decorating my house for Christmas!!! There’s just something about feeling comfort and peace when my house is decorated. I wish I could keep my white lights up all year round!! But since Friday is right around the corner (and I can’t wait!), I thought I’d share my favorite things from this past week.

Favorite Winter Feeling: My house being decorated. Trees, snowmen, stockings, wreaths, you name it. I love it.

Favorite comfort food: This week has been beyond stressful for me. So instead of continuing to eat ‘healthy’, I spoiled myself with a delicious comfort food of mine~ Bacon & cheese pizza with fries. Talk about carbs!!! I’m going to be paying for this one for awhile. Lol

Favorite Holiday Movie this week: Home Alone~ I love a lot of holiday movies but this is by far one of my favorites. This past weekend, I had a nice quiet Saturday night after spending the day at my sister’s and watched Home Alone. This movie always brings me back to my childhood.

Favorite Event: My sister’s “Sprinkle” for her and my soon to be nephew. This past weekend, I threw my sister a “Sprinkle”. If you’re not sure what a Sprinkle is, it’s a smaller version of a baby shower for a mom-to-be with her second child (or third, fourth, etc). I held it at her house with our family and a few of her closest friends. It was a lot of fun! If you’d like to read about it some more, check it out on my sister’s blog www.modmommy.com

My sister and some of her friends. Even my sister’s dog,Riley, is hanging out with the girls.

What are some of your favorite things this season so far?

Hope you all had a great week!

Secret Boards for Pinterest!!

12 Nov

As many of you know, I am completely obsessed with Pinterest. If you are still in the dark about what it is, I’m sorry for this and you need to jump on board with the rest of us. (you can read my old post about it right here!) Last week, Pinterest introduced to us the idea of having secret boards. LOVE this! With the holidays upon us, I love this idea because we can now pin ideas/things that we want to get for other people. For me this is perfect, I have “Secret Santa” at work and exchange with my family (who are on Pinterest). Now, they’ll have no idea what I’m thinking of getting them. Great idea Pinterest!! I’m so glad you came up with this.

To create a secret board on the web here’s what you have to do:

Go to your profile page and click on ‘ Add+’ from the top right hand corner.

Once you click on ‘Add’, this next window will appear and you want to choose “Create a Board”.

After you choose “Create a Board”, another window will appear for you to now name your new board and there you can decide if you want it to be private or not.

If you want to create this on your phone, first you need to make sure you have the most up to date Pinterest app installed on your phone.

Click on your profile and scroll all the way down until you see where it says “Secret Boards”

Once you click on “Create a Secret Board”, you’ll see this next window and then you’re ready to start pinning!!!

And that’s it!! Quick, easy and addicting!!

What are some ways you might use a Secret Board on Pinterest??

Feel free to follow my boards at: https://pinterest.com/glamgirl09/

Happy Pinning!!!
