A break from my current life? Yes, please!

4 Sep

It’s hump day and what better way to end it than to dream of what I would do if I could take time off from my current life. Well, today’s topic asks us to write: If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world, what would you do? Well where do I begin.

I would (starting tomorrow hypothetically)

1. Travel to New York and attend Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

mbfw

I have the privilege of working for StyleWeek Northeast, Providence’s very own fashion week that occurs twice a year, however, it is my dream and on my bucket list to attend Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I love how there is so much that takes for it to come all together. I appreciate all of the hard work that everyone puts in, in order to have a week where talented designers can showcase their upcoming line. It takes an army to pull it off and I would love to someday attend and in my real dream world, work a show like I do here in Providence.

2. I would travel to Europe~ London and Paris

London

london

I have always wanted to travel here. I love the accent, the sites and attractions. (Plus who doesn’t love the Royal Family!)

Paris

Paris

I’d hate to admit it, but ever since I saw the Love Bridge on an episode of the RHBH (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, yes I know!!) and KKUTK (Keeping Up with the Kardashians), I want to go this bridge and put a locket on it. And who doesn’t love the Eiffel Tower!

3. Live in New York City and work at Glamour Magazine for a week as a writer for their website in the beauty department

nyc

For everyone who knows me, knows how much I love my magazines specifically Glamour. And you will probably also know it’s my dream to one day be a professional writer/blogger for an online publication. I currently have the privilege of being a Glambassador for Glamour Magazine and already get to do something kind of like this on the side by reviewing products for them, but I would love for it to be my job.

And last but not least……

4. Relax

relax

I would take these three months to spend as much time as I could with my family and soak up every relaxing moment. Life is too short and we all need to be cognizant of appreciating the people we have in our lives for they are the ones who stand by you through thick and thin.

What would you do if you could take three months off??

Happy dreaming!!

Day 21~ My biggest fear

21 Mar

Scared-turtle

What I fear. I could seriously sit here and probably write a whole post on what my biggest fears are but I’ll save you and give you the abridged version.

For one, I’m afraid of losing any one in my family. I seriously don’t know what I would do (god forbid) if I lose my parents or my sister, niece or nephew. I can’t even think about it. Let’s just say I’ll probably be admitted somewhere for a little while and people will have to come visit me. I can’t even think about it. I know it’s fact of life but it’s scares the bejesus out of me.

I am afraid of being alone. Not like alone in my house, alone. That I can do. I actually enjoy spending time by myself. A lot of people don’t know how to do that and I’m grateful that I do. I’m talking like real, never getting married or being in a committed relationship, alone. I truly sometimes think it’s just not in my cards and I am meant to do other things. I really hope that’s not how my plan is going to go, but I have to just continue to trust in the process.

I am afraid of never becoming a mother. I feel like a mom every single day, and they sometimes slip and call me mom on accident, which I think is hilarious. I know that I am meant to be a mother and that it will happen some day but I am still afraid that it may never happen.

Hmmmm……okay enough mushy deep stuff, let’s talk fears for real.

I am afraid of spiders, heights and clowns. There is nothing worse than knowing you are the only person in your house and you have to face a spider. I know that if I don’t kill that spider, I’m not sleeping and he’s coming to get me. So I am that ninja who finds Windex, a magazine or even a shoe to disperse of that eight legged little creature. I have created many contraptions to trap and carry them to the toilet to send them off to their final resting place.

Heights is another story (but yet I love roller coasters. Go figure). I honestly feel like that if I’m near a railing that doesn’t have a high wall, my body will literally just take over and throw me over the ledge. Or if I’m at an arena and I’m in a high seat, my body will just throw me down the flight of stairs. Weird, I know.

And last but not least, clowns. I was just telling my kids yesterday at school that I literally hate clowns. I don’t like the fact that I don’t know who is behind that make up. And let’s be honest, they are not attractive at all! It could be some crazed lunatic behind that make and I’m all set. No thanks. I need to see your face sans make up and all.

There you have it. Now let’s hope I don’t dream of a crazed clown chasing me at the top floor of an arena and then my body just flinging me down the stairs and me falling into a web full of spiders! That would really suck.

What are some of your biggest fears?

Day 4: Best Childhood Memory

5 Mar

Best childhood memory. Well, what shall I call my childhood. The time from when my family was together as one, or the time from when my mom raised two girls on her own.

I feel like I grew up with two different childhoods. When my family was ‘one’, I had the best childhood. I remember going on many family vacations, taking part in dance and cheerleading, growing up with family and friends around our house because we had the best yard with an in-ground pool and always being happy.

Then came the childhood that began at age 12~ my family became two separate families. This is the childhood that I remember so vividly. My mom gave us everything and anything that we wanted. She would work a million and one jobs just to make sure we could have and do what we wanted. I remember growing up with the best girlfriends that were going through what my mom, sister and I were going through. We had the best support system and had many laughs during our weekly Friday night dinners with these other single moms and their daughters. I also love that I still see and have these girls in my life. It’s a bond that can never be forgotten. There is something to be said about single moms and their daughters. They become more than just mom and child. You become best friends. This childhood that I was given at the age of 12 because my dad and mom got divorced, was the best childhood I could have ever asked for.

21 years later, I have my childhood to thank for the woman I am today. My mother was the best, and still is, role model any girl could ask for. She was strong, independent and resilient and showed my sister and I that a woman can do and be anything she wants to be. Because of her, I am the same strong, resilient and independent woman she was at my age (minus the 2 kids). I hope that one day, I can give my daughter/son the same childhood my parents gave me.

Day 3: What Makes you Happy?

5 Mar

What makes me happy??? Hmmm, at this very moment, I actually have to think of things that make me happy. I’ve been in what we call a funk lately, and this weather is not helping, I need to snap out of it.

Trying to catch up with the March blog challenge, is actually making me stop and reflect on my life. So I must admit, I’m glad that day 3 is making me stop and think about what makes me happy.

After pondering for a couple of minutes, my brain started to come around and I was able to compile this list. I have a feeling that I could’ve kept going, but I’ll give you a sneak peak at my top 10.

~my niece and nephew without a doubt make me happy

~sunshine and warmth

~the ocean (for my Rhode Islanders you’ll appreciate this, the minute my car ‘hits’ the tower on Rt.4, my body becomes at ease)

~ watching Pretty Little Liars on Tuesday night

~ reading my magazines

~ my ‘nephew’ Riley. I miss having a dog so much

~ my kids at school. They truly make me smile

~ having a good workout

~ spending time with my family. They mean the world to me.

~ being healthy

What are some things that make you happy?
